Are you looking for a learning environment or care for your child over spring break? Kosasa Academy offers a program of engaging morning classes and amazing afternoon activities. Students may attend all day or for only part of the day.
Block A (Choose one)
Keyboarding
Students learn to keep their fingers on home row and type looking only at the screen.
Math and Vocabulary Games
A fun warm-up for a day of learning! Students improve their vocabulary and/or math skills with engaging games geared to their individual needs.
Math Facts Practice
This class is a jumpstart to KA’s popular Thirty Days to Multiplication Mastery summer school class. Multi-sensory methods focusing on the hardest-to-learn facts help students finally learn and remember those pesky 7 and 8 times tables.
Block B (Choose two Prescription Math classes or one math class plus Nuts and Bolts Writing)
Prescription Math I and II
Each math student receives diagnostic pretesting to determine their specific needs. A multisensory math program is then custom-designed to fill in gaps and move forward on a firm foundation. Students may take one or two Prescription Math classes.
Nuts and Bolts Writing
Students learn how to write strong sentences and construct compelling paragraphs, along with unique techniques for getting started on writing projects.
Outdoor Fun (All Block B students participate in Outdoor Fun)
Fresh air increases learning! Students let loose for an extended activity break sliding on hills, doing water balloon target practice, yoga, gardening, or competing in the Krazy Kosasa Olympics. (Students who benefit from a quiet break have that option too.)
Lunch
KA provides nutritious lunches each day for $6.50 or students may bring their own lunch from home—school lunch is only for students participating in Block C.
Block C (All Block C students take Artists and their Art and Vocabulary Building Blocks)
Students are not required to stay at school until the end of Block C.
Artists and their Art
In KA’s amazing art program, students learn about artists such a Joan Miro, Claude Monet, Piet Mondrian, and Henri Matisse PLUS the techniques these masters used to produce their unforgettable work. Students then use their new skills to create original paintings after the style of a chosen artist. This process expands students’ skill sets and increases their appreciation of the many ways to produce a work of art.
Vocabulary Building Blocks
Morphographs are the smallest part of a word that has meaning. In this fast-paced class, students learn the definition and spelling of up to sixty of these useful little word parts. This knowledge is the key to unlocking the meaning of hundreds of words resulting in higher SSAT and SAT test scores, increased reading comprehension, and a larger general vocabulary.
Note: Kosasa Academy is not an allergen free zone.
