Week I: March 13-17 • Week II: March 20-24
Choose the week that works for you, or sign up for both!
Looking for a learning environment or care for your child over spring break? Kosasa Academy offers a program of engaging morning classes and amazing afternoon activities. Students may attend all day or for only part of the day.
Block A (choose one)
Keyboarding
Students learn to keep their fingers on home row and type looking only at the screen.
Math and Vocabulary Games
A fun warm-up for a day of learning! Students improve their vocabulary and/or math skills with engaging games geared to their individual needs.
Block B (choose two)
Prescription Math
Each math student receives diagnostic pretesting to determine their specific needs. A multisensory math program is then custom designed to fill in gaps and move forward on a firm foundation. Students may take one or two Prescription Math classes.
Nuts and Bolts Writing
Students learn how to write strong sentences and construct compelling paragraphs, along with unique techniques for getting started on writing projects.
Orton-Gillingham Phonetic Reading Instruction
Reading instruction that works! OG is the gold standard for phonetic reading instruction. This class is available to current and continuing students only.
Block C
STEAM Explorations
In this popular class, students explore a multitude of creative multisensory activities. Students will produce drip paintings, create architectural drawings for Lego structures, build and paint rockets before planning and testing their trajectories, and time allowing, complete our annual signed canvas floor art piece.
Lunch
KA provides nutritious lunches each day for $6.50 or students may bring their own lunch from home. School lunches only for students participating in afternoon Blocks.
Wake Up and Walk
A brief outdoor walk to energize and oxygenate our brains for a productive afternoon.
Block D
Vocabulary Building Blocks
Morphographs are the smallest part of a word that has meaning. In this active, exciting class, students learn the definition and spelling of up to sixty of these useful little word parts. This knowledge is the key to unlocking the meaning of hundreds of words resulting in higher SSAT and SAT test scores, increased reading comprehension, and a larger general vocabulary.
Block E
Coding for the Cool Kids
Students learn valuable coding skills, important problem solving strategies, teamwork, perseverance, and communication skills all while creating fun games and animations!
Block F
Penmanship
Explicit instruction in the easy way to form letters in print and script will improve your child’s handwriting and increase confidence. This class reinforces sound/letter connections and is highly recommended for OG students.
