Block A (choose one)
Penmanship: Explicit instruction in the easy way to form letters in print and script will improve your child’s handwriting and increase confidence. This class reinforces sound/letter connections and is highly recommended for OG students.
Keyboarding: Students learn to keep their fingers on home row and type looking only at the screen.
Block B (choose two)
Prescription Math: Each math student receives diagnostic pretesting to determine their specific needs. A multisensory math program is then custom designed to fill in gaps and move forward on a firm foundation. Students may take one or two Prescription Math classes.
Orton-Gillingham Phonetic Reading Instruction: Students have fun learning to decode and understand text. This class is a must for beginning or struggling readers. Highly trained teachers use multisensory techniques to teach the fundamentals of reading.
Writers' Workshop: This highly individualized workshop meets students at their level and moves them forward. Beginning writers focus on sentence and paragraph writing and advanced writers practice research techniques, organization, clarity, structure, and the importance of variety. Everyone will learn useful tricks to get started and the essentials of proofreading and editing.
Block C
Learning Spelling and Vocabulary through Morphology Morphographs are the smallest parts of a word that has meaning. In this active, exciting class, students learn the definition and spelling of up to sixty of these useful little word parts. This knowledge is the key to unlocking the meaning of hundreds of words resulting in higher SSAT and SAT test scores, improved reading comprehension, and a larger general vocabulary.
Block D
STEAM Explorations: In this class, students explore the many ways that science, technology, engineering, art, and math are part of their daily lives. Incorporating open-ended investigation with experiments, students will learn how to answer questions and create solutions to real-world problems.
Lunch
