In this engaging, interactive class, students learn the easy way to read, write, and spell. This class is a must for beginning or struggling readers.
Writer’s Workshop (Grades 3 through high school)
This individualized workshop meets students at their level and moves them forward. Beginning writers focus on sentence and paragraph writing, and advanced writers practice research techniques, organization, clarity, structure, and the importance of variety. Everyone will learn useful tricks to get started and the essentials of proofreading and editing.
_______________________________________________________________
All Block C students participate in the following:
Outdoor Snack and Energy Break
Fresh air increases learning! Students let loose for an extended break, sliding down hills, racing balance bikes, shooting hoops, and much more! (Students who benefit from a quiet break have that option too.)
Learning Spelling and Vocabulary through Morphology
Morphographs are the smallest parts of words that have meaning. In this active, exciting class, students learn the definition and spelling of up to sixty of these useful little word parts. This knowledge is the key to unlocking the meaning of hundreds of words, resulting in higher SAT test scores, increased reading comprehension, and a larger general vocabulary.
